Craigleith development moving ahead following planning permission success

The initial phase of work at our new Edinburgh development at Craigleith started in July, with the demolition of the site’s existing buildings. Construction of the new development itself is scheduled for November.

“Following a successful planning application, it is very satisfying to have begun this exciting new addition to our Edinburgh portfolio,” says Project Manager, Gareth Williams. “Alongside the demolition work, the building warrant for the development has also been submitted and the details of interior designs and finishes are currently being fine-tuned.”

The plans for the development involve the construction of eight high-quality homes that have been designed to reflect the architecture of the surrounding area.

“This is a sought after address,” Gareth adds. “It is within easy reach of the city centre, including Princess Street, and the green space of Edinburgh’s beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens. It puts all of the best things that the capital has to offer within easy reach.”

Among the other attractions that are close to the development are the Scottish Gallery of Modern Art, and Ravelston and Murrayfield Golf Clubs. The locality also has a good range of shops within easy reach and is close to leading schools, including Mary Erskine and Fettes College.

We are excited to confirm that the talented and dynamic team at Lynsay Bell Architecture have been appointed to help secure detailed planning permission and building warrant approvals for our forthcoming development at Craigleith Road in Edinburgh.

“We are very excited to be working with Lynsay Bell Architecture says Project Manager, Gareth Williams. “With LBA on board we are confident that the project will move ahead on program. We completed the purchase of the former petrol filling station at Craigleith Road in June and we made the site secure and ready for redevelopment.”

“Craigleith will be a sought-after address, given its proximity to the city centre, the site is well located for transport links into the city as well as the bridges and bypass and nearby Craigleith shopping centre as well as Waitrose, all within walking distance Gareth adds. “Our plans are to create at least eight high-quality modern homes in-keeping with the architecture of the surrounding streets. This exciting new scheme will be the next chapter in Wemyss’ on-going work in the capital.”

With a young, driven and highly capable team, Lynsay Bell Architecture is an Edinburgh-based architecture firm with a strong track record in achieving planning consents with design and practicality at their heart.
