Wemyss Properties Project Manager Gareth Williams has provided his expertise to help one of our sister companies, Darnley’s Gin, construct a new gin still at Kingsbarns whisky distillery, which is located six miles from St. Andrews in Fife.

“I provided project management on the build of this heritage refurbishment project, which is in an old farm cottage,” explains Gareth Williams. “The construction of this new distillery represents a home-coming for Darnley’s Gin to Fife, an area where the Wemyss Family, who own the brand, has ancient roots.”

The new distillery, which marks a major investment in the future of Darnley’s Gin, incorporates a beautiful copper still from Italy and a new visitor centre. The construction project, which involved the refurbishment of the existing building and the construction of an extension, took about fourteen weeks. This was a very short time-scale for the work involved. However, given the expertise of Gareth and the rest of the team everything went without a hitch.

Darnley’s is an award-winning gin which is available in three different styles. It harnesses the Wemyss family’s expertise and passion for the distillery business that dates back to the turn of the 19th century.
